Keep a website safe
A website gets attacked for the same reason a parked car gets tried: it is there. Five habits close the easy doors.
Keep it updated
Websites run on software, and that software has versions. Old versions have known holes. Updates close them. With Managed Hosting, updates are handled for you.
Keep a backup
A backup is a copy from before the damage. If the site is defaced or wiped, we put the copy back. Managed Hosting keeps those backups.
Guard the logins
The website login is a master key. Keep it in the password manager, one strong password per person. When someone leaves, change it.
Shield the address
Your domain is the address people type. Two things protect it:
- A Cloudflare record set to Proxied puts Cloudflare between the internet and your host.
- DNSSEC signs your DNS answers so nobody can quietly swap them. Cloudflare turns it on for free.
Domain Security keeps both in place and stops anyone sending email in your name.
