Your business
What a business identity is
Your business identity is every account your team signs in with. Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace is the big one. Your email, your files and your calendar all sit behind it. Whoever holds the sign-in holds the business.
Why it matters
A modern small business has no server room. It has sign-ins. A thief who steals one does not need to break in anywhere. They log in the way you do. They read your mail. They send invoices in your name.
Most break-ins start this way. A password gets guessed, or phished (tricked out of you by email). From then on the thief looks like a normal user.
What protects it
- Multi-factor sign-in. A second proof of you, usually a tap on your phone. A stolen password alone stops working. See Turn on multi-factor sign-in.
- Passkeys. A sign-in with no password to steal. See Passkeys and passwordless.
- A password manager. One strong password for every site, remembered for you.
- Watching every sign-in. Identity Monitor checks each login around the clock and shuts a suspicious one down.
