Microsoft Entra ID P1

In plain language

An upgrade to your Microsoft 365 sign-in system that lets us set the security rules smaller plans can't.

The metaphor

Like upgrading from a basic lock to a keycard system: same door, but now you control who gets in and when.

How it works

  • Included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium, or added per person to other plans.
  • Unlocks Conditional Access and sign-in risk reports.
  • Each person the rules protect needs their own licence.
  • Formerly called Azure AD Premium P1.

In practice
  • A team on Business Basic adds P1 to block code-on-another-device sign-ins.
  • A firm moves to Business Premium and gets P1 included.
