IAM

Identity and Access Management

The system that decides who gets an account, what they can open, and when that access ends.

Like the key desk at an office building: it issues the right keys to the right people and takes them back when someone leaves.

How it works

  • Each person has one account with a role that sets what they can reach.
  • New hires get access on day one and leavers lose it on their last day.
  • Sign-in checks, such as a second step, are part of it.
  • Reviews catch accounts that no one uses any more.

What can go wrong (example scenario)

A seven-person design studio never closed an ex-contractor's account. Months later, that login was used from another country to read client files.

How WILDCARD handles it

Cloud covers users and permissions in your Microsoft 365 or Google workspace. Identity Monitor watches every login and session and shuts down suspicious activity automatically. Password Manager puts SSO and strong passwords behind the same accounts.

  • A clinic gives front-desk staff access to scheduling and no access to billing.
  • A firm removes a leaver from every system on the same afternoon.
  • An owner asks for a list of everyone with admin rights.

A question owners ask

Who should be able to create and remove accounts?

Two people at most, ideally one owner and one trusted IT provider, with the changes written down.
