Guest network

A separate Wi-Fi for visitors that gets them online without letting them see your business computers.

Like a public waiting room next to the office: visitors sit comfortably and cannot walk through to the filing cabinets.

How it works

  • It has its own name and password, apart from your staff Wi-Fi.
  • Devices on it can reach the internet and nothing else on your network.
  • Visitors, contractors and personal phones go here.
  • Set it up once and rotate the password occasionally.

How WILDCARD handles it

Network covers access points set up with a staff network and a guest network that cannot see each other.

  • A dental office offers waiting-room Wi-Fi without exposing the practice server.
  • A coworking tenant gives clients their own network.
  • A shop puts staff phones on the guest Wi-Fi.

A question owners ask

Is a guest network really necessary? If anyone who is not an employee ever asks for the Wi-Fi password, yes. A guest on your main network can reach the same shared folders and printers that you can.

Network
  • Firewall managed and monitored
  • Switches kept current
  • On-prem Active Directory auth
