Vulnerability

A weakness in software or settings that an attacker could use to get in.

Like an unlocked window on the second floor: it only matters if someone finds it, and the fix is quick once you know.

How it works

  • Found in software, devices and misconfigured settings.
  • Catalogued with a public ID (CVE) and a severity score.
  • Patches and setting changes close them.
  • Scans find them before attackers do.

How WILDCARD handles it

Patch Management closes known vulnerabilities by keeping software current. A vCIO review covers the settings side.

  • An outdated plugin on the website.
  • A router with a known flaw.
  • A shared folder open to everyone.

A question owners ask

Does every vulnerability matter? No. Priority goes to ones attackers are already using and ones that expose your key systems.

Something here sounds like your problem?
