UDP

User Datagram Protocol

A fast way to send data that skips checking each piece arrived, used for calls, video and games.

Like shouting across a room: quick, and if someone misses a word nobody repeats it.

How it works

  • Sends pieces without a handshake or resend.
  • Delay is small, which suits live voice and video.
  • A lost piece shows as a brief glitch.
  • Attackers sometimes abuse it to flood a target.

How WILDCARD handles it

Network manages the firewall that keeps this traffic flowing for calls, and Business Voice is the phone system that depends on it.

  • A video call glitches when the connection is crowded.
  • A phone system sends voice in small fast packets.
  • A DNS lookup uses it for speed.

A question owners ask

Why does my call sound choppy?

A busy connection drops pieces. Fixing the bandwidth or giving calls priority usually clears it.
