Pan-tilt-zoom

A security camera that can be turned left and right, tilted up and down, and zoomed in, usually by remote control.

Like a guard who can turn their head and look closer on request.

How it works

  • Someone operates it from an app or screen.
  • It can cover a wider area than a fixed camera.
  • It needs a network connection and power.
  • Default passwords on cameras are a common weak point.

What can go wrong (example scenario)

A shop installed a camera with its factory password. A stranger found it online and could watch the shop floor.

How WILDCARD handles it

Network covers the managed firewall and switches that sit behind your provider's modem.

  • A warehouse camera follows a person across a yard.
  • A parking lot camera zooms to read a plate.
  • A manager checks the till area from home.

A question owners ask

How do I secure one?

Change the default password, keep its software updated and put it on a separate part of the network.

Network
  • Firewall managed and monitored
  • Switches kept current
  • On-prem Active Directory auth
