MSSP

Managed Security Service Provider

A company that watches over another business's security tools and responds to what they find.

Like a night-watch company hired to monitor your building: they look at the cameras and alarms so you do not have to.

How it works

  • They run or oversee tools such as monitoring and email filtering.
  • They review alerts and take action.
  • Ask who responds, when, and what they are allowed to do.
  • An MSP covers IT broadly and an MSSP focuses on security.

How WILDCARD handles it

Workstation Defender, Identity Monitor and Email Security are managed by WILDCARD so you do not have to watch the consoles.

  • A clinic hires a firm to watch its security alerts.
  • An office has an IT provider and a separate security monitor.
  • A law firm checks what its provider will do after hours.

A question owners ask

How is that different from an MSP?

An MSP handles everyday IT. An MSSP concentrates on security monitoring and response.
