Host-based Intrusion Prevention System

Software on a computer that spots an attack as it starts and blocks it.

Like a smoke detector wired to a sprinkler in one room: it spots the fire and acts on that room.

How it works

  • It watches programs and behaviour on a single computer.
  • When it sees a known bad pattern, it stops the program.
  • It can block good programs by mistake, so rules are tuned.
  • Modern endpoint protection has this built in.

How WILDCARD handles it

Workstation Defender stops ransomware, fileless malware and zero-day attacks on protected computers, around the clock.

  • A program tries to encrypt many files and is stopped.
  • A document opens a hidden command window and is blocked.
  • A report lists attacks stopped on each computer last month.

A question owners ask

What if it blocks something I need?

Tell your IT provider. They can review the block and allow the program if it is safe.

Something here sounds like your problem?

Every WILDCARD card exists to solve one named problem. Find yours.
