Core Web Vitals

Google's three scores for how fast your pages load, how quickly they respond, and how steady they stay while loading.

Like a restaurant inspection for speed: how fast the food arrives, how quickly the server responds, and whether the table wobbles.

How it works

  • Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): how fast the main content appears. Good is under 2.5 seconds.
  • Interaction to Next Paint (INP): how fast the page reacts to a tap or click. Good is under 200 milliseconds.
  • Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): how much things jump around while loading. Good is under 0.1.
  • Google measures them on real visitors' devices and uses them as one of many ranking signals.

What can go wrong (example scenario)

A salon's homepage had a huge uncompressed photo. On phones it took six seconds to load, and the "Book now" button jumped as the page settled, so people tapped the wrong thing and left.

How WILDCARD handles it

Managed Hosting keeps the site fast and updated. Managed Search watches the scores and fixes the pages that slip.

  • A shop compresses its product photos and its pages load twice as fast on phones.
  • A clinic stops its booking widget from pushing the page around as it loads.
  • A firm removes an old chat plugin that slowed every tap.

A question owners ask

Do these scores matter more than content?

No. Good content wins. But between two equally good pages the faster one has the edge, and visitors stay longer either way.
