VBA

Visual Basic

The built-in scripting language of Microsoft Office that automates tasks in Word, Excel and Outlook.

Like a recorded set of steps for a helper: press a button and it repeats them every time.

How it works

  • Macros are small programs saved inside a document.
  • They save time on repetitive work.
  • Attackers send documents with harmful macros.
  • Microsoft blocks macros from files that came from the internet by default.

What can go wrong (example scenario)

An employee opened an invoice spreadsheet from an unknown sender and enabled editing. A hidden macro began downloading other software.

How WILDCARD handles it

Email Security screens inbound mail for phishing and impersonation, and Phishing Training teaches staff to spot a suspicious attachment.

  • An Excel sheet formats a monthly report with one click.
  • A warning bar says macros are disabled.
  • A phishing email carries a spreadsheet that asks to enable content.

A question owners ask

Should I ever click Enable Content?

Only for files you trust and were expecting. If unsure, ask your IT provider.

Something here sounds like your problem?
