Smishing

A scam text message that tries to get you to click a link or share information.

Like a forged courier slip left at your door asking you to call a number or reschedule delivery: the slip looks real, and the link on it leads to the thief.

How it works

  • It arrives by SMS or messaging apps, pretending to be a courier, bank, CRA or a boss.
  • It uses a short link and urgency: a parcel on hold, a payment failed.
  • Texts bypass your email filters.
  • Do not click. Open the real app or type the website yourself.

How WILDCARD handles it

Phishing Training builds the pause-and-verify habit that every scam channel depends on. Email Security covers the email channel.

  • A receptionist gets a text saying a parcel is held for a fee.
  • An owner gets a message from 'the CRA' about a refund.
  • A bookkeeper gets a text from 'the boss' asking for gift cards.

A question owners ask

Should I reply STOP to a suspicious text? No. Replying confirms your number is live. Delete and report the message, and block the sender.

Something here sounds like your problem?
