COPE

Corporate Owned, Personally Enabled

A policy where the company buys the phone or laptop, and staff may also use it for personal things.

Like a company car that employees may also drive on weekends, with the company keeping the keys and the rules.

How it works

  • The business owns and manages the device.
  • Staff may use it personally within limits.
  • The company can lock or wipe it.
  • Compare with bring-your-own and choose-your-own.

What can go wrong (example scenario)

An employee lost a company phone on a train. Because the company managed it, it was locked and wiped remotely the same day.

How WILDCARD handles it

Mobile Management is a planned card for managing company phones and tablets.

  • A company provides every salesperson a phone.
  • A policy allows personal calls and apps.
  • A lost phone is wiped remotely.

A question owners ask

Can the company see my personal data?

It depends on the policy. Ask what is monitored before you agree.
